Massage Therapy Tru Hartwood

You are here

Tru has been in practice full time since 2001, after graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy's 3 year program in Vancouver, and has taken many continuing education courses since. It was an easy decision to go into massage therapy after highschool as he already had the reputation as "the massage guy" since grade 6. He has a sports background and perhaps a little more experience with his own injuries than he'd like, but it has helped him appreciate the effectiveness and therapeutic value of massage and its ability to quickly restore pain-free function.
With a strong education background, extensive clinical experience, natural intuition, and "listening hands", Tru prides himself on being able to locate the source of pain and disfunction quickly and accurately, and use the right techniques with the right pressure to comfortably achieve deep and lasting results. His pressure is customized to each client, from light fingertip pressure to deep pressure using his elbows and body weight, while constantly checking in with the client to assure a balance of comfort and effectiveness. Tru believes listening is one of the most important skills of a good therapist and encourages clients to be clear and specific in their goals at each visit, whether that's leaving with no more pain, or prioritizing one area over another, or to leave feeling relaxed, or some combination of goals, as his treatments are completely customized to each client.
Tru has lived on Pender Island with his three sons since 2015 and is thrilled to be part this community. Outside of work he is interested in meditation, personal growth, hiking, kayaking, philosophy, the future of technology, environmentalism, and self-sufficient off-grid living.
